Kansas City Chiefs Rumors: Tyler Bray To Push Alex Smith As Starter? QB Signs After NFL Draft As Matt Barkley, Ryan Nassib and Tyler Wilson Picked Late Rounds

The Kansas City Chiefs added a quarterback prior to the draft when they traded for Alex Smith in the offseason and after signing Chase Daniel as a free agent, Andy Reid wanted to add another young arm to the mix and he did that with Tennessee prospect Tyler Bray, bringing him in as an undrafted free agent.

According to ESPN.com, league sources said that Bray would join the mix of quarterbacks after making it through the draft without any team selecting him. Bray had one of the strongest arms in the draft among players at his position and he had some issues with work ethic and attitude, which is why he likely slipped. The Steelers initially had interest in him and Reid likely loved his pure arm talent.

Other quarterbacks that signed as undrafted free agents includes Vanderbilt's Jordan Rodgers, the brother of Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team already has Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne and it is likely he will play for a backup or practice squad position. Last season Rodgers threw for over 2,500 yards and 15 touchdowns and five interception in the SEC and will join his brother in the pro ranks.

In the draft after EJ Manuel was selected in the first round, things shook out later, with quarterbacks Mike Glennon, Matt Barkley and Ryan Nassib coming off the board. Nassib and Barkley were fourth round picks that the Giants and Eagles needed to trade up for. NY took Nassib because they felt he had first round value and felt it was time to bring in a young quarterback to develop behind Eli Manning. GM Jerry Reese said that it would be great if he never played, but that the value was too good to pass up. The team selected Justin Pugh from Syracuse for their first pick and this was the first time they selected a quarterback in the draft in a few years.
