Colin Kaepernick received a free food offer if the San Francisco 49ers can win the Super Bowl in New Orleans.

According to sports business reporter Darren Rovell at ESPN, the second-year quarterback has been given the chance to get free burgers for life from the restaurant chain Red Robin with a win on Super Bowl Sunday. Rovell tweeted out a picture of an ad that will run in Thursday's San Francisco Chronicle offering the 49ers quarterback free food for life if he wins the Super Bowl.

Kaepernick has taken the NFL by storm and the new offer came about because the quarterback has stated before that he enjoys Red Robin. According to a recent New York Daily News article:

"When a financial adviser flew in from New York and asked him where he would like to go out to dinner, Kaepnerick chose Red Robin, a favorite haunt of his."

There is another food story related to Kaepernick as well, with people in his hometown of Turlock, California planning a huge tailgate party in honor of the quarterback.

According to Yahoo, the Turlock Education Foundation is hosting "Turlock Believes," a Tailgate Party on Saturday, February 2nd, from 11:00am till 2:00pm at Pitman High School, 2525 West Christoffersen Pkwy in Turlock, California.  To add to the excitement, at the event Turlock Mayor John Lazar will proclaim it "Go Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers Weekend."

Turlock Education Foundation president, Barney Gordon said, "We're thrilled to see our very own in the Big Game.  Not only is Kaepernick a role model for our youth, but he has renewed Turlock's sense of pride in our community. We're excited to see him play a big part in bringing home the Niner's sixth Big Game win."

According to the report: The "Turlock Believes" Tailgate Party will offer food and product vendors, as well as opportunities for fans of all ages to participate in fun activities, take pictures, record videos and send notes of encouragement to Kaepernick. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own BBQs to tailgate. Propane, tobacco, and alcohol will not be permitted.

Earlier this season with the 49ers sitting at 6-2, starter Alex Smith was sidelined after suffering a concussion against the Rams, forcing coach Jim Harbaugh to bring in Colin Kaepernick. The game ended in a tie and the following week Smith had to sit out, giving Kaepernick his first start in which he threw for 243 yards with two touchdowns in a 32-7 win over Chicago.

A controversy was started when Harbaugh said after the game: "we have two quarterbacks that have a hot hand", essentially tossing aside the old adage that no player in the NFL should lose their job to an injury. Kaepernick took over and never looked back.

Smith became the starter when Harbaugh first came to the team and completed 61.3 percent of his pass attempts for 3,144 yards with 17 touchdowns and just five interceptions. Prior to the season, Harbaugh allowed Smith to test free agency by flirting with Peyton Manning and after the Dolphins showed interest, Smith decided to sign a a three-year, $24 million contract that included $15.5 million (partially) guaranteed money to remain with the 49ers.

The 49ers likely will trade Smith once the season is over since there are a number of team that should be interested, including the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns.
