Rex Ryan Car Accident With Mustang Latest Headline For New York Jets, Multiple Cars Wrecked In Crash (PHOTO)

The New York Jets have made a number of headlines this season with their personnel moves and decision to fire Mike Tannenbaum and to keep head coach Rex Ryan.

Ryan has always been an outspoken guy that can grab headlines, but this time it isn't for the best of reasons. According to Deadspin.com, Ryan was in a three-car crash in Bethlehem, Pa. that involved his red Mustang.

The report says that Ryan sped through an intersection, colliding with another vehicle, which then crashed into a third. Sources with the Bethlehem police confirmed the details apart from the speeding.

According to police: Ryan was driving a red Mustang westbound on West 3rd Street in Bethlehem at 6:14 p.m. on Jan. 14 when he allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of West 3rd and Wyandotte Street. The Mustang collided with another vehicle, sending it crashing into the third vehicle. "It's a blind hill to some degree," a police source said, describing the intersection. "It kind of crests at Wyandotte Street."

The source said that Ryan denied he was speeding and that all three vehicles sustained damage. The sourse did not know if Ryan was given a citation and that there were no injuries.

According to Deadspin, it is possible Ryan was going to meet Marty Mornhinweg, the former Eagles offensive coordinator who was hired by the team last week.

This is just another wrinkle in the strange offseason that is the New York Jets. Ryan was caught with a tattoo of Mark Sanchex in the Bahamas, while the team has no idea what to do with Tim Tebow. There was also news this week that the Tebow trade was forced on the Jets and owner Woody Johnson by former GM Mike Tannenbaum.

According to an ESPNNewYork.com report, Rich Cimini writes  that the deal was not the "brainchild" of Johnson, although he eventually warmed to the idea of bringing Tebow to the team. Former Broncos GM Ted Sundquist, who interviewed for the Jets' open general manager position, said that he was told that Tebow was "forced" on Johnson and team president Neil Glat, who also participated in the interview.

The 2013 season can't come soon enough for the Jets.
