Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson leaps over teammate in game against Packers

His teammates carried him off the field as Adrian Peterson ran it to the Green Bay Packers' 12 in the 4th quarter, which set up the game-winning field goal as the Minnesota Vikings won 37-34 on Sunday as they are on their way to the playoffs.

Peterson went for 199 yards in 31 carries with two touchdowns, one receiving and another rushing. So much for his abdominal slowing him down. The Packers weren't able to bring him down and he almost went 200 yards against him.

Teammates carried him off the field and he probably thought that the record was done. Either they were carrying him off because they thought he had broken the record, or they carried him off because he had set up the winning field goal and guaranteed the Vikings played again tomorrow.

In reality, Peterson fell nine yards short of the record totaling 2,097 yards in the 2012 season. However, more importantly, the Vikings won the game and clinched the 6th spot in the playoffs, eliminating the Chicago Bears who had won earlier in the day and held the last postseason spot available.

The Vikings won it on a 29-yard field goal by kicker Blair Walsh.

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers will see these guys again next week as the Vikings get set to travel to Lambeau Field for the postseason.

Both squads split the season series, but the bad news for the Packers is that Peterson rushed for 200 in both.
