Cristiano Ronaldo is set to reject Real Madrid's new contract offer, and is willing to see out the remainder of his current deal before making a move away.
Ronaldo quoted much controversy when he said he was "sad" at the club in September. That feeling has apparently not died down, and according to Spanish newspaper AS, Ronaldo is ready to refuse any new deal that Real might offer.
Barcelona wizard Lionel Messi signed a lucrative new contract with Barcelona recently, and Ronaldo has been left further miffed at the developments with Madrid reportedly not offering the Portuguese superstar any support in public.
Ronaldo wants to be paid what he is worth, but has been left disillusioned by Madrid's hesitancy to show how valued he is at the club.
The problem currently with Ronaldo is that he feels he does not have the support of the Real Madrid hierarchy and feels his contributions are not being appreciated enough.
Madrid are set to offer Ronaldo a salary worth €15 million a year (£12.3 million, $20 million) from his current €10 million a year (£8.2 million, $13.2 million).
However, Ronaldo is more interested in how the club has treated him, and due to his feeling not changing over time, is ready to reject any new contract offer.
Real are not ready to listen to offers for their best player from other clubs, but if the impasse remains, the Spanish club might be forced to reconsider.
Paris Saint Germain have publicly expressed their interest in the 27-year-old, while Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he would love to bring Ronaldo back to Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Marcelo Lippi has played down reports linking him with the manager's job at Real Madrid. Jose Mourinho's future has been thrown into question, after the Portuguese decided to drop Iker Casillas from the starting lineup against Malaga.
Mourinhio's relationship with Real president Florentino Perez, which was already fractured, has reportedly broken down even more recently, leading to suggestions the former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager could leave the club.
Lippi was recommended by Zinedine Zidane as a potential replacement for Mourinho, but the Italian, currently at the helm at Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande, said he had no intentions of taking over the job.
"There's nothing going on with Real Madrid," he said. "I'm going to replace Mourinho? That's not true.
"I've got a contract with Guangzhou for another two years and I'm happy here in every way."
