EPL Transfer News: Wesley Sneijder Unlikely to Move to Spurs; Swansea Told Aspas Will Not Be Available in January

The news that Wesley Sneijder could be on his way to Tottenham was met with surprise and delight by Spurs fans, but the White Hart Lane faithful might have to wait a little while before the transfer materializes, if at all, after the Dutch midfielder's agent played down those rumors.

Sneijder has been frozen out at Inter Milan this season over a contract dispute. Inter want to reduce the 28-year-old's salary to a more acceptable amount, while the player has stood firm on not renegotiating his contract, which runs until 2014.

That impasse has spilled onto the field, with the club refusing to play Sneijder, who has not taken part in a single game since September.

There were reports linking the Dutch playmaker with a move to Spurs, with the rumors suggesting only a fee needed to be agreed upon, after Sneijder had given the go ahead to the move.

However, Andre Villas-Boas, first played down those links during his post-match press conference on Boxing Day, and now Sneijder's agent has refuted the reports.

"There is nothing, absolutely nothing true about that," Sneijder's representative was quoted as saying by Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad.

There is little doubt that Sneijder will leave Inter in the January transfer window, with the only question being where.

Manchester United are long-term admirers, but are flush with attacking talent at the moment, while Paris Saint Germain are also reportedly keen on the Dutchman.

Meanwhile, Swansea have been told Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas will not move clubs in January.

Aspas has been one of the revelations of La Liga this season, leading to some of Europe's top clubs showing their interest.

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup was reportedly ready to make an offer for the 25-year-old in January, but Aspas' agent Felix Gende vehemently said his client will move only in the summer.

"It's clear that there are a lot of clubs following Iago because of the season he is having, but right now it is impossible that he leaves for another club in January," Gande said.

"He is focused on helping his team retain their Primera Division status. Come June, when there are a lot more transfers, God will say what happens with his future."
