Quarterback Philip Rivers #17 of the San Diego Chargers looks on from the sidelines after playing one series against the Dallas Cowboys during their NFL Preseason game at Qualcomm Stadium on August 13, 2015 in San Diego, California. "

It is being reported that the Chargers owner Dean Spanos has filed a trademark request for the "Los Angeles Chargers" name.

This is somewhat surprising considering how apprehensive Spanos was to working with the Rams and Kroenke however the NFL has pushed the Chargers into making a decision. Jerry Jones has also had a hand in making this deal possible as he pushed for the Rams to win the relocation bid.

For days now the Chargers and their fan base have been in limbo however this new development seems to show that this move will actually take place. If the Chargers do move to LA it does signify the end of the Raiders bid to get back to the City of Angels.

Realistically the Chargers wanted to split a stadium with the Oakland Raiders however now it appears that the Raiders will be the odd man out in the bid for relocation. The Raiders have reportedly been interested in the San Antonio area as the new home of Raider Nation. Mark Davis also owns enough land in San Antonio to build a stadium on and who wouldn't lose the matching color schemes of the Raiders and Spurs.
