With Thomas Rawls lost for the season, the Seattle Seahawks have some run game issues that could hurt their recent momentum. The team is looking like true contenders once again, but they are now down two leading rushers and in need of filling the holes on the field. With Rawls out and Marshawn Lynch's return a question mark, the Seahawks are bringing in new faces.
According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, the Seahawks have re-signed Bryce Brown to the roster. The team could have taken a look at players like Montee Ball or Trent Richardson, but opted to go with the familiar face. Brown is not flashy , but he can handle plenty of carries. Brown will likely split time with DuJuan Harris as the starting backs. According to head coach Pete Carroll via ESPN.com, Fred Jackson is the third-down running back for the team right now.
The biggest question for the Seahawks right now is the return of Lynch. Since undergoing surgery for a sports hernia, the running back has reportedly been rehabbing off site leaving his status unknown. Carroll stressed that right now there is no timetable for his return and the team is simply waiting to see how he responds to treatment. The chances Lynch is seen in Week 15 seem slim at the moment.
"We'll see how Marshawn does," Carroll said, via the Seattle Times. "He was back in rehabbing with us. We'll see where he is. He's got a chance to get back. It's all about getting back in shape and getting right. I don't know what the timetable is at this point. Our trainers can't tell yet. But that will be the next thing we will look to see how that works out."
For now, the Seahawks are going to be the Wilson Show which is not a bad thing. With four straight wins under their belt, the quarterback thrived against the Baltimore Ravens and could repeat the performance against the Cleveland Browns. Wilson is coming off a five-touchdown performance as Tyler Lockett grabbed two of them and Doug Baldwin had three. That was enough to get the job done and something that could happen again with the Browns' weakened secondary. As long as Wilson is playing like this, a rotation of Brown and Harris should be just fine for Seattle.
"Everything that he's doing right now, he's done before," Baldwin said, via ESPN.com. "But he's just doing it at a very high level. He's always been magnificent outside of the pocket, but now he's doing something that he hasn't done up to this level inside of the pocket. And so it makes it so much easier on everybody else. To his credit, he's playing unbelievable right now."
