Tom Brady #12 of the New England Patriots drops back to pass against the Carolina Panthers in the 1st quarter during their preseason NFL game at Bank of America Stadium on August 28, 2015 in Charlotte, North Carolina. "

The NFL's MVP race is really down to 3 players at this point. Sure DeAndre Hopkins and Allen Robinson have been amazing this year but really when talking MVP you have to talk about the players that have impacted their team the most. The players that if you take away a team could crumble, Tony Romo should be on this list just for the fact that the Cowboys went 0-7 without him. Here are the three main options at MVP this season.

Cam Newton (Carolina Panthers): When talking about an MVP who better than a guy who is a quarterback and running back all in one. Newton takes his offensive contribution to the next level as he can do things no one else in this league can do. Newton has led the Panthers to a 12-0 record with his knack for making big plays in big moments. Newton has completed 218 out of 373 passing attempts this season which gives him a 58.4 completion rate. He has 2,797 passing yards which pales in comparison to his counterparts below him but he has something they do not, rushing touchdowns. Newton has 7 rushing touchdowns and 476 rushing yards on 108 carries which is pretty remarkable for a quarterback. Newton averages 7.5 yards per attempt and has 25 passing touchdowns on the year while only recording 10 interceptions which gives him a quarterback rating of 93.2.

Carson Palmer (Arizona Cardinals): Palmer is the number 1 fantasy football quarterback right now. He puts up a ton of points every week and has not had an off week so far. Palmer is the last of these quarterbacks to have played so his numbers should be a bit bigger after factoring in week 14. Palmer is having the best year of his career and the Cardinals are 11-2. They may not be undefeated but they have clinched a playoff berth. Palmer has completed 292 out of 453 passing attempts which gives him a 64.5 completion percentage. He has thrown for 4,003 yards and averages 8.8 yards per attempt. Palmer has 31 touchdowns to his 9 interceptions on the season which gives him a 107.2 quarterback rating. He may only have 1 rushing touchdown but he makes up for it with his accuracy. Palmer right now is the clear choice for MVP.

Tom Brady (New England Patriots): Brady has been on fire this season and if not for a couple of injuries to his star teammates, Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, the entire Patriots offensive line, and Dion Lewis we could still be looking at an undefeated Patriots team. Brady instead has had to fight the good fight pretty much alone settling for tight ends and reserve guys as his primary defense against the pass rush. Despite all of the adversity Brady has been one of the most elite quarterbacks this season. He has completed 323 out of 507 passing attempts which gives him a 63.7 percent completion rating. He has thrown for 3,912 yards, averaging 7.7 yards per throw. Brady has 31 touchdowns to his 6 interceptions. Brady also shows his versatility with 3 rushing touchdowns on the year and has a 102.8 quarterback rating. Brady is likely the front runner but if he cannot get help soon Palmer may overtake him in the MVP race.
