Philadelphia Eagles running back DeMarco Murray warms up before a 2015 game."

With all this talk of Chip being kicked out of Philadelphia (which has calmed down since their win over the Patriots) the Eagles might be on the verge of losing another important piece.

Ever since DeMarco Murray had a conversation with Eagles owner Jeff Lurie it has been speculated that the topic of discussion was his usage going forward. Murray has been ridiculously ineffective as the Eagles starting running back and regardless of whatever "plan" Chip Kelly has sitting a ridiculously expensive running back because he is not in the game plan seems a bit obtuse from a team perspective.

The fact of the matter is a lot of Kelly's moves were questionable to begin the season. The signing of Byron Maxwell to a mega deal, the trade of LeSean McCoy (which may actually come back to haunt them), and the signing of both Ryan Mathews and DeMarco Murray was just not financially sound and not in the best interest for the Eagles future. In 2014 with the Cowboys Murray saw 392 rushing attempts but he will barely sniff that number as he is currently sitting at 163.

He went from averaging 24 attempts a game to a mere 14.8, and lost a yard on his average yards per carry mark. His longest run as an Eagle has been 30 yards, and is averaging 51.7 yards per game versus his 2014 mark of 115.3 yards per game. To say Murray is not a good fit is an understatement, it is a pure disaster, every aspect of his game has been affected negatively. Plus if Kelly does get the boot or the Eagles do lose out where can they go from here?

Kelly was adamant about picking his players and setting up his system but it just does not work lucky for the Eagles the NFC East is abhorrent this year so they are still in the race for the playoffs. Regardless of how Murray performs in the coming weeks there is one number that will not change, $9 million. That is how much Murray will count against the cap for the next two years.

The Eagles will need a lot of new pieces to solidify this roster and Murray could be jettisoned to make room for that especially if Ryan Mathews continues to out play him. There will be no trades with Dallas to aquire DeMarco once again, the only way Murray ends up as a Cowboy again is if he gets cut and becomes cost efficient because one thing that is glaringly obvious Murray is not nearly worth his mega deal and Jerry Jones knew that all along.
