The NFL's Miami Dolphins' Team General Manager Jeff Ireland (L), new Head Coach Joe Philbin (C) and team owner Stephen Ross pose for the media after Philbin was named as the new head coach in Davie, Florida January 21, 2012. "

After getting blown out by division rival the New York Jets, the Miami Dolphins have fired their offensive coordinator Bill Lazor. Lazor and his offense only put up 20 points against a tough Jets defense however it appears owner Stephen Ross has had enough of losing.

Firing Lazor will hardly help the continuity issues that have plagued the Dolphins for weeks now. Sure the Dolphins passed the ball 59 times in comparison to the 9 times they ran it, but realistically without Darrelle Revis the best way to attack this Jets defense is through the air.

They have been a stout run defense all season long so seeing such a low rushing total is not at all surprising. In the last five games the Dolphins have averaged 15.6 points per game, something that did not help Lazor before he was put on the chopping block.

When Joe Philbin was fired and Dan Campbell came in as the interim head coach, there was a spark, something that ignited this offense into putting up points, now it is as if the Dolphins brass have given up on the season as they sit at 4-7. Quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor will fill in as the play caller for Dan Campbell for the remainder of the season. The Dolphins will likely look to rebuild in the offseason.
