New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (12) is pressured by Miami Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake (91) during the first half at Sun Life Stadium."

The Miami Dolphins were absolutely on fire after dismantling their opponents in week 6 and 7. Then the Patriots came a calling and well the story is as old as time itself.

Now the Dolphins sifting through the Thursday night football hangover find themselves missing one of their biggest pieces. Cameron Wake tore his Achilles in the 36 to 7 loss against the Patriots officially ending his season. Wake was playing late in the 3rd quarter of this massive blow out which begs the question why?

The Dolphins showed no signs of coming back as their offensive line failed to open up any holes or make plays for these offensive players. Now the 34 year old Wake will spend the rest of his season rehabbing. Wake counts $9.8 million against the Dolphins cap this may cause one of the best Dolphin defenders in franchise history to be released.

The loss to the Patriots stings enough but losing Wake will cause this defense to struggle to generate any level of pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Suh has been double teamed all season and now will likely be triple teamed to just keep him out of the game. Wake was an integral part of this franchise so it is a shame to see his productive season end so soon.
