San Diego Chargers

Keenan Allen (Wide Receiver): Allen is going up against one of the worst defensive backfields in the league. Baltimore has given up the second most points to wide receivers in the NFL and Allen has 62 catches in the first 7 games. Allen is a high WR 1 for week 8.

Melvin Gordon/Branden Oliver/Danny Woodhead (Running Back): Gordon should be the leader of this committee however it is currently Danny Woodhead as he has the most touches as a passing down back. Gordon struggles to pass block but also cannot seem to find holes on the ground like fellow first round running back Todd Gurley. Woodhead has been nothing short of remarkable for the Chargers becoming one of the most effective check down options in the NFL. Oliver has a number of touches every week as well and could grow into a bigger role if Gordon remains ineffective. The Ravens give up the 10th fewest fantasy points to running backs in the league so it should be a tough week for this committee.

Antonio Gates/Ladarius Green (Tight End): Gates will likely miss the week 8 contest with an MCL injury which leaves a ton of targets for Ladarius Green. The Ravens have given up the second fewest fantasy points to tight ends however Green found the end zone in Green Bay which boasts a much better all-around defense.  Green is a great TE 2/flex play this week.

Philip Rivers (Quarterback): Baltimore has given up the 2nd most fantasy points to quarterbacks all season long and Rivers is in prime shape to deliver a big game. Just once in his last 5 games did he not throw for over 300 yards.  It wouldn't surprise anyone to see him throw for 300 yards and 3 touchdowns against one of the worst passing defenses in the league.

Baltimore Ravens

Steve Smith SR (Wide Receiver): San Diego has given up the 5th fewest points to wide receivers and Smith was limited in Thursday's practice. He reportedly tweaked his knee however Smith sees a ton of targets from week to week. Smith should be in for a modest day at best.

Justin Forsett (Running Back): San Diego has given up the 2nd most points to running backs this season and Forsett could be the Ravens saving grace in this game. The Ravens will not outscore the Chargers through the air because the Chargers have to many weapons and a better secondary. The Ravens however can run the ball more effectively and control the clock. This is what they will need to do with Forsett in order to win in week 8.
