NFL Injuries News: Will DeAndre Levy’s Injury Hurt the Detroit Lions? May Miss Rest of Season For Jim Caldwell With Hip Surgery

Oct 16, 2015 02:50 PM EDT

DeAndre Levy's injury may cost him the 2015 NFL season as he is set to undergo hip surgery. Levy has only been on the field for one game however it is obvious that this Lions defense needs some help.

Levy could have been given that 8 week IR return option however that has already been designated for defensive back Alex Carter. Levy has been the one of the Lions most productive pass rushers. In his time with the Lions he has racked up 12 interceptions, 2 return touchdowns, and 443 total tackles.

The Lions have been struggling on all sides of the ball this season. They are currently dead last in rushing yards, 30th in offensive points, and 26th in total yards. The defense is having tremendous struggles defending the run as they rank 27th on the defensive side of the ball. They are also 26th in total points allowed showing tremendous deficiencies on both sides of the ball.

Calvin Johnson has even struggled leading this offense to any type of offensive success. He has only 32 receptions and 1 touchdown this season which is tremendously low for one of the most legendary in the NFL. The Lions are currently 0-5 and their season is in jeopardy, one more loss could put them entirely out of the playoff hunt.
