1. Rob Gronkowski (New England Patriots): 27.40 Fantasy Points: Gronk had a monster fantasy week 1. He finished with 5 catches, 3 of them touchdowns and had 94 yards. Gronk was the Patriots passing game and only lost possession work to Julian Edelman. Gronk is the best tight end in fantasy football.
2. Austin Seferian-Jenkins (Tampa Bay Buccaneers): 23.00 Fantasy Points: ASJ might be the best valued tight end in fantasy football as most people do not have them on their team let alone starting. Either his performance is the start of a trend where when the Buccaneers lose they only throw to ASJ or it could have something to do with Mike Evans being sidelined. With Evans slated to return in week 2 ASJ's value should come back to earth.
3. Travis Kelce (Kansas City Chiefs): 22.60 Fantasy Points: Kelce did exactly what fantasy owners thought he would do, be the primary option in the red zone for the Chiefs. Kelece cleaned up after the Chiefs wide receivers got them down the field.
4. Tyler Eifert (Cincinnati Bengals): 22.40 Fantasy Points: Eifert was another tight end who saw a lot of attention from his quarterback. Eifert got most of his points by finding openings down the middle of the field.
5. Jason Witten (Dallas Cowboys): 18.00 Fantasy Points: Witten finished with 2 touchdowns and caught 8 passes which is a great preview of what fantasy owners will get now that Dez Bryant is injured. Witten will be targeted a ton especially in the end zone and can easily become a top 5 tight end this year.
The five worst
1. Greg Olsen (Carolina Panthers): 1.10 Fantasy Points: Probably one of the first drafted tight ends off the board and disappointing stat line is only symptomatic of this Panthers offense.
2. Owen Daniels (Denver Broncos): 0.50 Fantasy Points: Daniels has the opportunity to put up big numbers but with Peyton Mannings decline and a suspect offensive line it will be tough for him to put up any consistent numbers what so ever.
3. Benjamin Watson (New Orleans Saints): 1.90 Fantasy Points: Watson should have fully utilized his chance at being the star in New Orleans however an aggressive Cardinals defense hung him out to dry.
4. Larry Donnell (New York Giants): 2.10 Fantasy Points:Donnell had sleeper potential however the Giants offense forced him to stumble a bit. With the way the Giants are playing Donnell might be in for a quiet season.
5. Richard Rodgers (Green Bay Packers): 3.80 Fantasy Points: Rodgers is the clear tight end in the passing attack however there are also some amazing wide receivers in that attack as well. Rodgers is likely the 4th or 5th player in the pecking order.
