Malik Zaire #8 of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish evades the tackle of John Bonney #24 of the Texas Longhorns during the second quarter at Notre Dame Stadium on September 5, 2015 in South Bend, Indiana. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish won 38-3. "

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Virginia Cavaliers are playing live on the NCAA college football schedule on Saturday and the game from Scott Stadium starts at 3:30 pm ET on ABC with TV coverage as Brian Kelly leads Malik Zaire into their second game of the season.

Notre Dame comes into the game after a win against Texas to start the season and they have a tough early stretch with Clemson coming up along with USC. Notre Dame is ranked number nine and and the defense is looking good after the win against the Longhorns. The team allowed under 200 yards in the game to Texas and that could be a good sign moving forward for a team that wants to be in the national title mix.

The Longhorns are not expected to be a great team, but it's still Texas and that was a promising start for Notre Dame to get things going. Virginia comes in after a loss against UCLA and they put up 336 yards but did not look all that great against the Bruins. Notre Dame is looking to get back to a few years ago when they finished ranked in the top 10 in defense and if that happens this year, the team could be a strong contender to get a top bowl game or into the playoff.

The last time these teams played was back in 1989 and that was a win for the Irish at the old Giants Stadium. Zaire comes in after a solid start with 313 passing yards and three touchdowns against Texas and he is looking to keep that going against Virginia. The Cavs have not won a game against a top 10 team in quite a while and the team will have to stop Zaire for a chance here.

Zaire comes in after completing over 80 percent of his passes in the game against Texas and he could be the main key for the Irish and their success this season. The Irish play against Georgia Tech next and then the team plays against UMass, Clemson, Navy, USC and then against Temple and Pitt before playing Wake Forest.
