The New England Patriots won over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night 28-21 to open the NFL season behind four touchdown passes from quarterback Tom Brady.

The Patriots went up 14-3 in the first half and Brady connected with tight end Rob Gronkowski three times for touchdowns in the Week 1 matchup. Brady threw for 288 yards and four scores in what would have been the first game he would have missed if his suspension was not overturned. The Patriots opened the game fast and Brady was fired up early when he ran out onto the field.

Dion Lewis had 69 yards for the Patriots rushing the ball, while Julian Edelman had 11 catches for 97 yards in the game. Gronkowski started the game strong and the Steelers managed to hang around and they scored a late touchdown to cut the deficit to seven, but there wasn't enough time to come back.

The Steelers had to play without Le'Veon Bell and Martavis Bryant with those players suspended and that put a lot of pressure on Antonio Brown. Josh Scobee had two missed field goals in the game for the Steelers.
