The Seattle Seahawks have signed Fred Jackson to a one-year free agent deal after his release from the Bills and now he will be the backup for Marshawn Lynch. The Seahawks placed Robert Turbin on IR and this comes as Jimmy Graham, Lynch and Doug Baldwin are the best fantasy football options for Russell Wilson this season.

Jackson visited with the Seahawks last week and reports had him likely signing a deal with the team. According to Adam Schefter at ESPN, Jackson has signed a one-year deal and now will be the backup for Marshawn Lynch. Jackson and Lynch have a relationship from their time in Buffalo and that may have helped get a deal done. The Seahawks have traded Christine Michael and with Robert Turbin on injured reserve, Jackson is now the main backup.

Lynch has been one of the most worked backs in football over the past few years and now he has a solid backup that can help him get some rest. Jackson was banged up a little bit last season and he finished with a career low 525 yards rushing, but he finished the season with a career best 66 catches for 501 yards out of the backfield. Jackson can add a new element to the Seahawks offense and he could be a good complementary option for Lynch on offense.

Jackson has been a productive player in his career and while he has gotten up there in age, he can provide some good insurance behind Lynch. Michael never broke out like the Seahawks were looking for and now he has been traded to the Cowboys. The Seahawks offense is expected to be strong again with Wilson at quarterback, as the team added Jimmy Graham this offseason in a trade. Doug Baldwin was solid as a number one receiver last season and with Lynch always productive, the team could put up points for fantasy owners.

Tyler Lockett could get some work as a rookie and he could be a sleeper, while Jermaine Kearse is also going to get work behind Baldwin. Wilson has put up solid numbers in the last three years and now he comes in with the security of a long term contract. The Seahawks also added some insurance for Kam Chancellor, who is holding out and could extend it into the season. According to Pro Football Talk, the team added Kelcie McCray in a trade with the Chiefs.
