The Green Bay Packers have signed James Jones after his release from the NY Giants and he now adds some depth for Aaron Rodgers after Jordy Nelson was injured and lost for the season. Cobb has Davante Adams and Ty Montgomery behind him and now Jones can also be a good option after previously playing in Green Bay.

The Packers are expected to be one of the contenders in the NFC this season even with Nelson out and now the team has some more depth. According to NFL.com, Jones is signing back with the Packers after being let go by the Giants after playing with the team in the preseason. Jones was with the Packers until 2013 and he spent last season with the Oakland Raiders. Jones said to the Green Bay Press-Gazette that he felt bad about the injury to Nelson, but that he was happy to be back with the Packers.

Nelson tore his ACL in the preseason and he will be out for the year, leaving Cobb as the new number one receiver. Davante Adams was expected to be a breakout candidate this season and now he will likely slot into the second spot behind Cobb on the depth chart. Jones previously was a third round pick for the team and he adds some experience for the Packers. Adams is in his second year, while Ty Montgomery and Jeff Janis are inexperienced.

Jones comes in after making 73 catches for 666 yards and six touchdowns last season for the Raiders and that came after seven seasons with the Packers. Jones had a career best 14 touchdowns in 2012 and that season he put up his most consistent numbers with 64 catches for 784 yards. Nelson has been one of the most productive receivers in football over the past few years and he set a franchise record for the Packers with 1519 receiving yards. Nelson had 98 catches and 13 TDs last season and the Packers will have to find a way to make up for that production.

The Packers offense should be very productive for fantasy football owners, as the team has players like Aaron Rodgers, Randall Cobb and Eddie Lacy leading the way. Lacy is one of the top rated running backs after having two strong seasons to start his career, while Rodgers is always one of the best quarterbacks. Cobb suffered a shoulder injury in the preseason, but he is expected to be healthy for Week 1 of the season.
