The San Francisco advanced to the World Series after defeating the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 7 by the score of 9-0.
Matt Cain pitched a gem and helped himself with a base hit RBI single in the bottom of the 2nd inning scoring Gregor Blanco for the 2-0 lead.
The Giants opened up the game in the bottom of the 3rd on a very peculiar play. Troy Tulowitzki once got a base hit on a ball that hit the bat twice in Yankee Stadium. Hunter Pence, with the bases loaded, sent a spinning double past shortstop Pete Kozma clearing the bases giving the Giants a 5-0 lead.
By this time, Joe Kelly was on the mound and Kyle Lohse was in the dugout. He finished his night with 2 innings pitched, six hits, one walk, one strikeout and allowed five earned runs.
Lohse was the Cardinals' most dependent pitcher coming into the game.
The Giants did not let him dominate, especially as Cain did not allow the Cardinals a single run for his best outing in the postseason.
Cain went 5.2 innings with four stikeouts while walking one and allowing five hits.
Scutaro had another big game going 3-4 with a walk and a run scored. He won the NLCS MVP.
He was not the only hot Giant as every single position player had a base hit in this game.
Next up for the Giants is a World Series stop. They will host the Detroit Tigers for Game 1 of the World Series, which begins on October 24.
Ryan Vogelsong might be on the mound for Game 1. He will be opposed by Justin Verlander.
