-------WELCOME TO THE LIVE BLOG--------

The San Francisco Giants face the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 3 of the NLCS at 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT.

The series is tied 1-1 guaranteeing the next three games will be played in St. Louis. The winner of tonight's game will take a 2-1 lead and need only two wins in the next four games to get into the World Series.

Some are predicting a 2006 World Series rematch between the Cardinals and the Detroit Tigers, but people have to relax. The Giants are more than alive and the Tigers have yet to complete the series against the New York Yankees.

Game 1 went to the Cardinals 6-4 as they held on for the win and then the Giants bounced back with a 7-1 defeat of the Cardinals in Game 2.

Matt Cain, who has been the Giants' ace this season will be on the mound, but he has not been at his best in the playoff sporting an ERA over 5.00 as he has allowed three runs in both outings while not pitching past the sixth inning.

Kyle Lohse, another 16-game winner, has yet to lose in two starts in the playoffs. He will pitch at home where has only lost one decision.

Without a doubt, the Cardinals have a chance to win all three games at home, but it will be up to the Giants to prevent this from happening.
