NFL Training Camp News: LeGarrette Blount Fails Conditioning Test For New England Patriots

Jul 30, 2015 12:59 PM EDT

In a surprising twist in the Patriots running game LeGarrette Blount has failed his conditioning test forcing the New England Patriots to put him on the NFI list.

This was the first time Blount has been the clear cut starter for the Patriots, so coming in and failing your conditioning test has to cast some doubt on just how serious Blount takes his role in the offense. Blount is also suspended for the first game of the season so it is a little odd that a player in his position would show up not ready to work.

Now Blount will have to play catch up all preseason until he gets a chance to play in week 2. Bill Belichick is also incredibly unpredictable at choosing who the Patriots will use as their starting running back so this incident may open of the door for 2nd string running back Jonas Gray.

Gray was also one of the victims of Belichick's strict team policies, when Gray overslept and was late for practice Belichick stripped him of his starter status. The Patriots signed Tyler Gaffney who will most likely help take over for Blount until Belichick thinks he is ready to start.
