Former Redskins tight end Chris Cooley is looking for a new NFL home. Cooley has said to the Cardinals that he is ready to return to the gridiron. Cooley was cut by the Redskins in the middle of the 2012 season. The Cardinals have expressed a strong interest in Cooley which is surprising considering the Redskins should have made the first phone call. The 33 year old Cooley left the league but never officially retired and has been practicing running routes as well as returning to his playing weight of 250lbs at the Redskins training facility.

Cooley did not want to harm his legacy with the Redskins by playing for another team but since this may be his last chance to play professional football he will be more than ready to play for whoever comes calling, especially a team not in the NFC East. The Cardinals need a reliable tight end and Cooley might just be the guy they are looking for but they have also scheduled a visit with former Cincinnati Bengal Jermaine Gresham. Gresham has been injury prone during his stint with the Bengals so the Cardinals may want a discount but Cooley stated that he could be any NFL teams third tight end.  Cooley left the league with 4,711 yards, 33 touchdowns, and 429 receptions.
