Washington Redskins Rumors: Can RGIII Ever Be 100 Percent Again For Jay Gruden?

Robert Griffin III's best season was his rookie season before he got dinged up by opposing NFL defenses. Now RGIII faces an uphill battle finding the player he once was. Just too quickly catch up on his injury history, RGIII tore his right ACL in college and missed the entire season. His first NFL injury was a concussion which led to him missing a game.

The next injury was a sprained ACL which caused him to miss a game. The big injury came when Griffin tore his right ACL/LCL which required surgery to repair. This was the injury that changed him as a player. In 2014 Griffin suffered a dislocated ankle that kept him out a good portion of the season.

The problem really is that too much damage has been done to that right knee of RGIII, he has a hard time balancing and planting his right foot in order to throw or run for that matter. I am sure that by the 2015 season these injuries would have healed to a certain degree but lingering effects will always remain. With over stretched ligaments such as those found after a sprain or mild tear, it is paramount to make sure that the ligaments are 100 percent healed before attempting any physical activity or before any stress is put on it.

That is because these ligaments degrade and can lead to another serious knee injury, this could be the answer why RGIII is not the same player he once was.  Plus when he sprained his MCL/LCL he remained on the field for most of the game, the worst possible thing you could do. Long term damage can be seen in the way he plays and one of the big problems is that he is not patient with his recovery.

An undisclosed coach stated that "there's no coming back, he is done. The reason is, the injury slowed his legs, and his ego will not allow him to hit rock bottom and actually grind his way back up the right way." Mike Shanahan stated "I don't think getting hurt has anything to do with RGIII's regression, you don't have to have great running ability to run the read option.

You have to be able to know when to slide, when to throw the football away, depending on if you're running or passing." The new Redskins general manager said "I think this season is going to tell a lot". This season most certainly will let the NFL know if RGIII can play football again but is he ready for the answer?
