The Atlanta Braves have started their second-half of the season with two solid win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Nick Markakis and Chris Johnson were the heros of Tuesday night as they combined to go 7 for 12 with four extra-base hits against the Dodgers. The Braves are looking to keep momentum going as the two face off for an afternoon matchup on Wednesday.
Los Angeles will look to get a win to end the three-game series, but results could be hard to come by with Mike Bolsinger on the mound struggling on the road. The pitcher is 4-3 with a 3.04 EAR on the season, but is winless in seven road starts with a 3.18 ERA. He has also failed to pitch longer than six innings while averaging 16.4 pitchers per inning. The Dodgers would love if he could end his spotty road streak against the Braves in order for them to get a win. Bolsinger had a short outing against the Nationals thanks to rain delay. He gave up one run and two hits before play was suspended. In his one start against the Braves back in 2014, he was tagged for seven runs and 10 hits in just three innings of play.
The Braves have won their last 10 of 14 home games while their starting pitchers have combined for a 2.56 ERA in that time. Julio Teheran will take the mound as he is 6-4 with a 4.53 ERA on the season. He has pitched well at home, giving up just one run in 14 innings of play, but he has traditionally struggled against the Dodgers. Teheran is 0-3 with a 6.86 ERA against the National League West team and was roughed up back in May with eight runs given in four innings. Los Angeles is getting good production from Adrian Gonzalez during this road trip. He is 10 for 20 with three home runs in five games. Yasiel Puig has looked strong as well, but Carl Crawford has been activated which could push him aside. The Dodgers would ideally like to get a win in order to change momentum for a second-half push.
