The Atlanta Braves need Julio Teheran to find his stride as the pitcher continues to struggle on the season. Teheran has been an ace for the Braves since his arrival, but has struggled greatly this season with a 6-4 record and 4.60 ERA. With an eight game road losing streak to his name, facing the Milwaukee Brewers could help Teheran turn things around as the Bucks and Braves face off on Wednesday.
Teheran has the lowest ERA against the Brewers versus any other National League opponent. He is 2-2 with a 1.59 ERA in four career starts against the Brewers. The issue for the pitcher is that he has to play the team on the road. This season he is 0-4 with an 8.23 ERA in his last eight road games. That is compared to the 2.04 EAR he has at Turner Field. Teheran is fresh off a win over the Philadelphia Phillies where he gave up just one run over seven innings.
Teheran will face a slumping Brewers team that has seen Ryan Braun go 1 for 9 against him. Carlos Gomez is 2 for 12 while Khris Davis is 0 for 6. Atlanta has taken the last 10 of 12 games against the Brewers who currently have the worst record in baseball. Atlanta has been getting improved production at the plate which has caused the team to be on the verge of sweeping the Brewers. AJ Pierzynski is 7 for 9 in this series. He will not play on Wednesday as the team givens him extra rest.
The Brewers do not have much to cheer about these days. The team is slumping with one of the worst records in the league and is showing no signs of improvement. Mike Fiers will take the mound as he is 4-7 with a 3.83 ERA on the season. He has won his last three outings with a 1.35 ERA. He is coming off seven scoreless innings against the Cincinnati Reds. Cameron Maybin has the most history and success against him ,going 12 for 28 with a seven-game hitting streak.
