Cleveland Browns Rumors: Dwayne Bowe Favors Josh McCown Over Johnny Manziel as Brian Hartline, Duke Johnson Starters Over Andrew Hawkins, Isaiah Crowell?

The Cleveland Browns might not have signed a young, marquee wide receiver or drafted a top rookie to help on offense, but they did get Dwayne Bowe from the Kansas City Chiefs and they are very confident the veteran can bring a lot of production to the team. The Browns added plenty of depth to the wide receiver position, but not a lot of stars. However, Bowe says his confidence is very high at the moment.

After losing Josh Gordon yet again, the Browns are hopeful Bowe can fill his shoes, something the veteran has every intention of doing. Bowe might not have caught a touchdown in 17 games, but he certainly does not lack for confidence heading into the 2015 season.

"When Josh (Gordon) was here he was the touchdown man and I'm here to fill his shoes,'' Bowe said, via Northeast Ohio Media Group. "It's my job to do that in this offense and I believe I can do that.  If I get (a TD) in the (home) opener first quarter, the floodgates are open and the Dawg Pound is going crazy. It's going to be awesome. Once I start that, I don't know what I'm going to do. I might go crazy.''

Bowe credits a lot of his confidence to Josh McCown who is expected to take over the starting quarterback job in 2015. Bowe worked mainly with Alex Smith in Kansas City, but he believes that McCown is easily the smartest quarterback he has ever played with while crediting his height and knowledge for the game as to why the Browns will compete next season.

"That's what I'm going to show you guys," Bowe said, via Cleveland.com. "It's going to be exciting, especially with a new uniform, a new city, new everything, I'm going to feel good. With Alex Mack and Joe Thomas, we're going to have a lot of time to hit that deep ball even in the red zone. I never had a quarterback like Josh that was that tall and could see the mismatch and really go to it. He's got my confidence level high right now."

Johnny Manziel is also expected to get a shot at being the starting quarterback, but Bowe is making it sound like McCown has the job won. He alongside Brian Hartline and Andrew Hawkins have the starting wide receiver rotation locked down and now it is up to McCown to make use of it.
