Sacramento Kings Rumors: DeMarcus Cousins Recruits Rajon Rondo Over Eric Bledsoe, Ty Lawson Trades as Reggie Jackson, Patrick Beverley, Aaron Brooks Options

For the time being DeMarcus Cousins is a member of the Sacramento Kings. Despite all of the rumors and all of the talks of trades, Cousins is still on the roster and will be used to attract free agents for the time being. Cousins is considered one of the best young big men in the league and free agents will look to play with him. The Kings is hoping that is the case with Rajon Rondo.

The Kings need a point guard. That is one of the biggest weaknesses on the roster at the moment. According to Mark J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports, the Kings made a call to Rondo at exactly 12:01 a.m. at the start of free agency and intend to target the point guard as their main signing this offseason. Spears reports that owner Vlade Divac did not offer up a contract to Rondo, but wanted to gauge what the interest the point guard had in the team. Rondo is looking for a short-term contract that will first help rebuild his reputation after a bad stint with the Dallas Mavericks and allow him to capitalize when the salary cap increases starting next season.

The question is whether Rondo is the best fit for the Kings. At the moment, ESPN.com is reporting that there is definite friction between head coach George Karl and Cousins. Rondo has not had the best luck with coaching relationships throughout his career. Getting both players plus Karl on the court together does not exactly sound like a match made in heaven. Although Rondo and Cousins could be deadly when paired together on the court.

The Kings have been looking at several options at the point guard position. There have been talks that they would trade Cousins to the Lakers in exchange for the newly-drafted D'Angelo Russell. The Sacramento Bee is reporting that deals for Eric Bledsoe and Ty Lawson could also still be options for the Kings should they not land Rondo.

Interest surrounding Rondo has been quiet. With Goran Dragic off the market, he is the best point guard available and yet no meetings have been reported yet. At the moment there is a run on big men in the league and once those signings take place Rondo could be up next to get his contract. The Kings are hoping they are the ones giving it.
