The PGA Tour Leaderboard at the US Open 2015 major championship from Chambers Bay has Dustin Johnson and Henrik Stenson among the early leaders for the major championship ahead of Patrick Reed, Jason Day, Jordan Spieth and Jason Dufner while Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose are trying to keep up.
McIlroy struggled through the day, while Phil Mickelson remains in the mix heading into Friday for the second round. Johnson got off to a fast start and kept things going until the end when he bogeyed the final hole, but leading up to that he was great. Johnson has a tie for the lead with a five under 65 and he comes in after not making a mistake on the front nine, while Stenson had birdies on three of the last four holes.
Spieth comes in after winning the Masters and he is looking to have a strong performance, while Woods is coming into Chambers after his worst performance. Woods had a terrible run at the Memorial and he is look to stay in the mix through the weekend, while Mickelson is looking to get that elusive first title. Mickelson was near the top before he had two bogeys in a row and he finished the day with a 69 for the first round.
McIlroy did not look comfortable on the course and he finished with a 72 and most of that was due to his poor putting. Johnson has been in this position before and now he will be looking to complete the run at the major. Johnson was out while dealing with some off the course issues and now he is back and looking to put all of that behind him with a strong performance at the major. Woods has not been looking good and he comes in with a six over through 12 holes in the first round.
