Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Dez Bryant Pushes Adrian Peterson Trade After Contract Denied, Jerry Jones Favors Darren McFadden Over Ryan Williams, Joseph Randle Compete

As far as game-changing running backs go, Adrian Peterson is the best option potentially available. So when Jerry Jones hints that he would be willing to trade for one, the Dallas Cowboys get thrown back into the rumors. The Cowboys continue to maintain faith in the resurgence of Darren McFadden, but they might be the only ones. As the Peterson rumors continue to fly, several players on the Dallas roster like the idea of making a deal.

Dez Bryant is aware of just how critical getting Peterson can be towards achieving a Super Bowl. After losing DeMarco Murray in free agency, Peterson is the next-option for the Cowboys and Bryant wants the trade to happen. While getting interviewed by TMZ, Bryant stressed that the Cowboys should make the trade, but he doubts the Vikings will allow it.

"If that could happen I would love it," Bryant said, via TMZ Sports. "We're both from East Texas and believe in the same thing. Just as much as he loves the game, I love the game the same way. I think it could be something very special. The Vikings not lettin' that happen, 'cause if they did ... the league would know what would happen."

For now, the Vikings are not dealing Peterson as they hold the expectations that the veteran will return as their starting running back. The Pioneer Press reported that Minnesota was demanding a first-round draft pick for the running back which is why no trade happened. However, Jones hinted that the Cowboys would be willing to give their 2016 first-round draft pick for a game-changing running back which of course is what Peterson is.

"I'd be reluctant to, but certainly if the right situation came along that could improve us now, with where we are with (35-year-old quarterback) Tony Romo, his career and where we are with what we've put together, it's a good time to go for it," Jones said, per Fox Sports Southwest.

For now the Cowboys will continue with the players on the roster. According to the Dallas Morning News, McFadden will be the starter in 2016 and the Cowboys are very comfortable with that idea. The competition with be with Ryan Williams Joseph Randle as to who gets more playing time in the backup role. The Cowboys like what they have in all three backs and with their confidence in the offensive line, they could be the main three running backs over Peterson.

"We really think Darren's in the best shape of his career," Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News. "He looks great out there. We really think that you put him behind our offensive line and he has some luck and stays healthy, we might really have something here. [Wiliams'] name actually came up quite a bit (during the draft). Many times we were looking at backs later in the draft that we compared to Ryan and didn't feel like they were as good as he was."
