New York Knicks Rumors 2012: Tracy McGrady Set To Workout With The Knicks, Could T-Mac Make A Return In A Knicks Uniform?

Former All-Star guard Tracy McGrady is still searching for an NBA franchise willing to guarantee a contract for next season. McGrady has already worked out for the San Antonio Spurs this week and next up is the New York Knicks.

If McGrady signs once again with the Knicks, the hope is that he could add more to the bench. The team already has players, Ronnie Brewer and Iman Shumpert, recovering from injuries.

McGrady signing with the Knicks would also make sense since he played for them in 24 games at the end of the 2009-10 season after being traded from the Houston Rockets. However, since he was traded at that time, his numbers have plummeted mainly because of multiple surgeries on his left knee. As a result, that may caution the Knicks from taking a chance on him.

T-Mac is coming off a career low in points per game average. He averaged 5.3 points with the Atlanta Hawks last season. In the season before that McGrady was with the Pistons scoring 8.0 points per game. The prowess of McGrady has not affected the NBA in some years.

Time is running out for the 33-year-old McGrady to secure a guaranteed contract for the season. Sources say he will likely have to choose between accepting a "make-good" training-camp invite or going overseas - perhaps to China.
