Apr 09, 2015 01:56 PM EDT

The Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals are playing live on the MLB schedule on Thursday and the teams matchup to finish off their series after KC won the first two games and the matchup will be at Kauffman Stadium as the AL champs try and sweep and it will have John Danks against Edinson Volquez and starts past 2:10 pm ET.

The AL Central teams are both expected to contend this year, but things so far have not gone well for the White Sox, who made a number of changes this offseason. The Royals come in after making the playoffs last year and winning the AL before losing in the World Series to the Giants. The Royals are trying to sweep to open the season and they come in after losing Billy Butler and James Shields from their team in the offseason.

Mike Moustakas homered and former White Sox outfielder Alex Rios also hit a home run and that gave the team a 10-1 victory in the first game. The matchup on Wednesday saw more firepower, as Eric Hosmer hit a home run and Lorenzo Cain also had one and the team won 7-5 for their second straight. The Royals have put up nearly 30 hits in the first two games and now the Royals have the chance to sweet the team out.

Danks comes in after winning 11 games last season and he will go up against Volquez. The Royals feel that they can be the division winners and the Tigers are also in the mix. Danks has not lost to the Royals in his career and he comes in putting up a sub 2.00 ERA in the past seven games he has pitched against the team. Volquez comes in after winning 13 games last season with the Pirates and the Royals are trying to sweep for the first time to open the season since back in 2008.
