The Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers are playing on the MLB schedule on Wednesday for the final game of their opening series and the matchup from Comerica Park starts at 1:08 pm ET and has Ricky Nolasco and Anibal Sanchez facing off on the mound and the matchup is on MLB TV for the afternoon game.

The Tigers won the first game of the series with a strong performance from David Price and now they will try and win the series against the Twins. Nolasco was a disappointment last season and now the Twins are hoping he can bounce back in this matchup. Nolasco comes in after winning just six games last season, while Sanchez won eight and now the two matchup on the mound.

The Tigers gave Paul Molitor a loss in his first game with the Twins and now Detroit gets the chance for another and it comes as Justin Verlander is being placed on the DL. Verlander had never been on the DL before in his career and now the Tigers will have to find a way to keep things going without him in the rotation for a little while. Verlander and the Tigers hope that the pitcher will only be out for a month.

The Tigers will be favored in this matchup and the Twins are hoping that Joe Mauer can get off to a good start along with Yoenis Cespedes, who comes over after a trade with the Red Sox. Price was very strong against the Twins in Game 1, putting up 8 and 2/3 scoreless innings in the matchup and the team won the game 4-0 for the first win of the season.

Price looked very sharp and that is big for the Tigers, as he comes in to be the new ace with Max Scherzer gone and with Verlander injured. Joe Mauer knocked Price out of the game late and Joe Nathan ended up with the save in the matchup and it was the first shutout on Opening Day for the team in years. JD Martinez had a home run for the team and he could be a key player this year for the Tigers and they are hoping he gets off to a hot start.

Phil Hughes was up and down for the Twins and he threw mostly for strikes, but he gave up too much. The offense for the Twins was flat, while Cespedes put on a show in the field with a leaping catch and he should be an exciting player to watch in Detroit.
