Miami Dolphins Rumors: Stevan Ridley Signed Over Knowshon Moreno? Lamar Miller Starter as Ryan Tannehill Pushes Michael Crabtree, Greg Jennings Contracts

The Miami Dolphins continue to make moves in free agency despite having signed the biggest contract of all with Ndamukong Suh. Now the team is trying to adjust their offense after saying goodbye to Brian Hartline, Brandon Gibson, Charles Clay and Mike Wallace. They did bring in players like Jordan Cameron and Kenny Stills, but it is simply not enough to keep Ryan Tannehill successful and the Dolphins know it.

According to ESPN NFL Nation reporter James Walker, the Dolphins are eyeing free agent Stevan Ridley to help settle out the running back rotation for 2015. Ridley paid a visit to the team, but has yet to sign a deal. The Dolphins are currently looking to find a complimentary back to Lamar Miller who is the assumed starter next season. Ridley would be the ideal fit. He is a downhill rusher with solid speed. This issue is consistency for Ridley. He had a breakout season his second year in the league with 1,263 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns, but the last two years have been clouded with fumbles.

The interest in Ridley shows the Dolphins have no interest in bringing back Knowshon Moreno. After a career-high season with the Denver Broncos, Moreno signed with the Miami Dolphins in hopes of being their leading rusher. However, he suffered the second serious knee issue of his career which is forcing Miami to move on. Moreno has not taken any visits in free agency and could potentially come cheap for the Dolphins, but they appear to be looking elsewhere.

A number of Dolphins fans are also waiting to find out what is happening with Michael Crabtree. The receiver has visited the team and talked about a potential contract, but remains unsigned. The Dolphins need Crabtree on the offense simply to add bodies to the rotation. He would be a solid veteran voice in the lineup that features a lot of youth, but consistency is an issue which could be holding back discussions. If Miami does not sign Crabtree, they could target players like Greg Jennings or Reggie Wayne before potentially making a move in the draft.

The Dolphins are not looking to spend much in free agency after Suh's contract because they would also ideally like to re-sign Tannehill this season. According to the Miami Herald, the Dolphins are beginning initial discussions on a new deal, but feel no pressure to get one done this season as they can also pick up Tannehill's fifth-year option to buy the team some time in negotiations.
