The Los Angeles Clippers are surging at the right moment in the season as the playoffs are within sight for the Western Conference. The exact opposite can be said for the New York Knicks who are occupying the bottom spot in the NBA as the worst team in the league. With the postseason far out of reach for the Knicks, the Clippers are climbing the ranks in the West while on a four-game win streak. Looking to make it five in a row, the Clippers head to the Big Apple and face off against the Knicks.
The Clippers have already locked in their fourth straight postseason berth, but ideally they would like to earn home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. They are in the middle of battling with several other teams for that right as the Clippers play their next three games on the road and then six of their next seven away from home as well. There are still plenty of games left to determine the seeding in the Western Conference.
The Clippers have won four straight games after drooping four of six. The team is coming off a solid win over the New Orleans Pelicans where Chris Paul had 23 points and 11 assists while Blake Griffin added 23 points in his fifth game back from a staph infection. The team is thriving off turnovers while holding a 21-8 edge in transition. Los Angeles is also averaging 19.8 fast-break points. The Clippers took the Knicks in their last meeting back in December where JJ Redick had 20 points including going 4 of 8 from long range.
The Knicks could use a win, but getting one against the Clippers will be a tough place to start. Right now, the team is dealing with a number of injuries as both Jose Calderon and Cleanthony Early remain out. Langston Galloway and Andrea Bargnani continue to lead the charge as they fell to the Memphis Grizzlies. The Knicks are losers of their last four while they have lost their last three games by an average of 18.0 points.
