Atlanta Falcons Rumors: Kroy Biermann Re-Signed After Michael Bennett, Greg Hardy Deals Denied, Dante Fowler Jr, Vic Beasley Drafted as Julio Jones Contract Next?

The Atlanta Falcons continue to add depth to their defensive front, but have yet to sign that homerun pass rusher or linebacker that can help stabilize the unit in 2015. Dan Quinn is beginning to make his mark on the roster, but by the looks of it, the draft is where he intends on getting that big defensive end while acquiring rotational guys in free agency. Atlanta made another move in that effort on Wednesday, bringing back Kroy Biermann on a next contract.

While the contract terms have not been disclosed, the Atlanta Falcons have announced that Biermann will be returning in 2015 after gaining no interest as a free agent. The contract will likely be very low cost as Biermann is not a starter. Over the last two years, Biermann has barely made an impact on the field after tearing his Achilles tendon. While he is credited as being very versatile at the defensive end position, his numbers are not great. The Falcoholic.com believes that Biermann's versatility is likely what got him re-signed for Quinn's new defense where he can move around a bit.

The contract is not thrilling to the fanbase considering just a day before the Falcons were being linked to a trade for Michael Bennett of the Seattle Seahawks. It was being reported Bennett was seeking a trade to Atlanta along with a new contract, but NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport is reporting the Seattle Seahawks have no intentions of dealing Bennett and there is no truth to the rumor that he requested a move from the team.

The Falcons would have loved to get Bennett on the roster considering how good he is at getting to the quarterback. Now, Atlanta will likely just look to the draft for help in that effort. The team is being predicted to select a pass rusher in the first round. Both Dante Fowler Jr and Vic Beasley have ties to Quinn and both overly impressed in the scouting combine. The issue is that Atlanta would be putting their faith in a rookie over a veteran which could really go either way.

With plenty of money left to spend, the Falcons will now aim to get Julio Jones re-signed to a deal. They recently agreed to terms with veteran tight end Jacob Tamme. They could also use help in the secondary. For now, the defensive front might be set.
