Philadelphia Eagles Rumors: Tim Tebow Option If Matt Barkley Traded, Marcus Mariota Trade Target For Chip Kelly After Sam Bradford?

The Philadelphia Eagles have been an active team this offseason and if Chip Kelly can trade Matt Barkley, reports say the team will bring in Tim Tebow as a backup quarterback and this comes as there have been rumors about Kelly trading up to get Marcus Mariota in the draft despite making a move to bring in Sam Bradford for Nick Foles.

The Eagles have undergone some dramatic changes this offseason, including trading their starting quarterback in Foles and their main running back LeSean McCoy. Kelly explained some of his moves in a press conference after acquiring Bradford, saying that the team is looking to bring in the best players for his system and he also mentioned that Bradford would not be used as a trade chip. The team also spent big money on DeMarco Murray and now Kelly could be plotting some other moves.

According to Pro Football Talk, the Eagles brought in Tim Tebow for a workout and they would like to sign him if they can trade Matt Barkley. The Website reports that Barkley is on the trade block and that he could be had for a late round pick. Barkley was the third string quarterback last season and would serve that this year if there are no changes. The Eagles signed Mark Sanchez back this offseason and traded for Bradford and all signs point to him being the starter as long as he remains in Philadelphia.

According to Pro Football Talk, Tebow "looked good" in his workout and his coach Tom House said that he is vastly improved as a passer. Kelly has a specific system that he likes to use on offense and Tebow actually could be a good fit for that in certain situations. The Eagles could look at teams like the Bills, Texans or Jets as options for Barkley, but right now no one has stepped up. The Eagles are the first team to show serious interest in Tebow since he was let go by the New England Patriots.

Tebow and Sanchez were together in New York with the Jets, but this situation would be much less dramatic. Kelly has been ruffling things in Philadelphia and he has a number of new faces, including Kiko Alonso, Byron Maxwell and Walter Thurmond along with Murray and Bradford, who used to be college roommates. The Mariota interest is the wild card in all of this and while Kelly said that the team would not "mortgage the future" to get him, he also said the team traded McCoy because of the salary cap and then signed Murray to a big deal.

According to ESPN.com, many coaches in the league "are not buying" the fact that Kelly says he is not interested in his former Oregon quarterback. Kelly did give up some solid draft compensation for Bradford and that likely means he is there to start, but things could change as the draft gets closer. Mariota would likely be a good fit for Kelly's system and he clearly does not think Foles was a good fit or he likely would not have traded him, giving up more compensation than receiving in the process.
