The NY Jets filled one major need with the trade for Brandon Marshall and now they may turn to the quarterback position, as players like Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallett, Jake Locker, Matt Moore and Christian Ponder are set to hit the free agent market and they could be potential options to come in for Geno Smith over trades for Jay Cutler, Mike Glennon or Kirk Cousins.

The team made a splash by acquiring Brandon Marshall from the Bears and they are hoping he can help revitalize what has been a disappointing passing game for years. The team added Eric Decker last offseason and now they have a strong red zone target to line up alongside him. The Jets are coming into the offseason with a new regime in place, as they brought in Todd Bowles and Mike Maccagnan to take over for Rex Ryan and John Idzik, who were both fired after another losing season for the team.

The Jets also signed back David Harris to a three year deal before the start of free agency, keeping one of the top linebackers off the market. According to ESPN New York, the deal is for three years and is worth over $20 million and keeps the top pending free agent for the Jets with the team, as he likely would have been a target for Rex Ryan in Buffalo. The team just traded Kiko Alonso for LeSean McCoy and Ryan's affinity for Harris and the Bills cap space like motivated the Jets to get a deal done.

According to Pro Football Talk, the Jets likely will look to the free agent market for a quarterback, as they have made it clear they are not interested in trading for Jay Cutler. Mike Florio writes that the Jets may look at Matt Moore as a solid option, while Brian Hoyer, Jake Locker and Christian Ponder are also hitting the market. Matt Schaub could be a target if he is released by the Raiders, while Ryan Fitzpatrick could be an option after previously playing under Chan Gailey.

The Jets added Marshall in a trade for a fifth round pick and while some have mentioned Cutler as an option, reports have the team not interested. Florio touts Moore, who threw for 16 touchdowns and nine picks when he started 12 games four years ago. The move for Marshall also could signal the departure of Percy Harvin from the team, as he has a high salary and draft pick compensation attached to his 2015 status.

Mike Francesa made some points about the quarterback situation last week, mentioning Mike Glennon as a potential trade target. With the Buccaneers likely taking Jameis Winston in the draft number one, they may look at trading Glennon and it might only take a mid-round draft pick to do it. Francesa said that Todd Bowles and Mike Maccagnan may not want to take a major risk with their first big move. He added that they likely would be safe if they use Smith and he fails, or if they bring in someone like Glennon or Kirk Cousins for a mid-round pick, as they wouldn't have to "sell the farm right away" to make those moves.
