Buffalo Bills Rumors: Mike Glennon Trade, Sam Bradford, Josh McCown, Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallett Options Over EJ Manuel In 2015?

Feb 25, 2015 12:07 PM EST

The Buffalo Bills are coming into 2015 with a new head coach and questions at quarterback and options may include a Mike Glennon or Sam Bradford trade, while Josh McCown, Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallett and Mark Sanchez are all available in free agency and they could be starter options over EJ Manuel for Rex Ryan this season.

The Bills finished with a winning record in 2015, but the team missed the playoffs and the offense struggled overall. Ryan now comes in for Doug Marrone and with a strong defense already in place, the offseason focus will likely be on the offense. Last year the team used Kyle Orton with Manuel not quite ready to take over and now Ryan will likely look for a short term option while Manuel develops. Pro Football Talk reported that Josh McCown visited with the team and is a potential target, while Mark Sanchez could be an option to reunite with Ryan.

Mallett, Brian Hoyer and Jake Locker are on the market and could be options as well, while Mike Glennon, Sam Bradford and Kirk Cousins are the main trade options. Bradford's name has come up with the Bills, but recent reported refute that any deal is going down. ESPN and the Buffalo News came out to say that no talks are going on between the Bills and Rams despite recent reports, but that doesn't mean the team won't talk in the future. The Rams have incentive to try and move Bradford, while the Bills could use him as a bridge option before giving things over to Manuel.

ESPN.com reports that the Browns are looking into a Mike Glennon trade and there is a chance he could be available for the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay ditched McCown already this offseason and all signs point to the team taking Jameis Winston with the number one pick in the draft. Glennon likely could be had for a draft pick and while the Bills may not want to trade one since they dealt up for Sammy Watkins last year, it could be worth a look. Glennon has a strong arm and comes in after putting up 29 touchdowns in 18 career starts with just over 4000 yards.

The Bills were mentioned by Pro Football Talk as a team that could spend in free agency, as they have solid cap space and new owners. The team may look at options on offense, including at quarterback, running back and on the offensive line. Ryan had a strong defense last year and some argued that the team would have made the playoffs had they had a better quarterback. Ryan can try and rectify that and if he makes it to the playoffs in his first season, he could be a folk hero in Buffalo.

CJ Spiller is a free agent and if he leaves, the team could look at players like Mark Ingram, Ryan Mathews and DeAngelo Williams on the market. The Colts may release Trent Richardson, while Ben Tate is also available. At WR the team has Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods, but they could at veteran players like Torrey Smith or Cecil Shorts to add some depth and experience behind those players on the roster.
