We have all heard the talks of Chris Paul wanting to play with Carmelo Anthony in the New York Knicks. Though the move is highly unlikely, big seasons by Amar'e Stoudemire and Raymond Felton could make a Paul trade viable.
As reported by Bleacher Report, the Knicks would give up a lot, but it would not be the first time they give up a lot of players for an NBA star.
They key pieces in the trade would be Raymond Felton, since the Los Angeles Clippers would be left without a guard, and Amar'e Stoudemire or Tyson Chandler.
Stoudemire would be the better piece to move for the Knicks, not the easiest, but it would open up their salary cap, which has given them a lot of trouble so far this offseason.
The biggest problem with Felton and Stoudemire were their 2011-2012 campaigns. Stoudemire's injury plagued career caught up to him in 2011 as he only averaged 17.5 points this season, his lowest total in a full season since he was a rookie in 2001 when he averaged 13.5 points a game.
Felton had one decent season with the Knicks where he averaged 17.1 points in 26 games as a Knick. He struggled last season with the Portland Trail Blazers, but was signed by New York after they let Jeremy Lin walk to the Houston Rockets.
The question then becomes how badly do the Knicks want Paul? Felton and Stoudemire would not be enough of a package to send to the Clippers. Iman Shumpert or J.R. Smith would have to be on the move, along with a draft pick, according to Bleacher Report.
Chris Paul averaged 19.8 points in 2011-2012 along with 9.1 assists and 2.5 steals a game.
