The Los Angeles Lakers point guard position has not been settled since last season. Steve Nash was supposed to be the team's starting point guard, but injuries over the past two years have ruined that idea. Jeremy Lin took over the job this year and is not excelling well as a starter which is leaving the Lakers scratching their heads as to what to do next. With trade market for Lin extremely weak, will Los Angeles seek another point guard that can help in the short-term and long-term future?

The Lakers would love to trade Lin. The traded for the point guard in the offseason because he had an expiring contract and would work will backing up Nash. However, he was forced into the starting role with Nash's injury and the Lakers are struggling as a result. His low stats paired with his $15 million contract have Los Angeles stuck with him. According to Sean Deveney of SportingNews.com is reporting the trade market for Lin does not exist no matter what kind of package the Lakers try to put together.

Deveney makes the point that Lin actually is not a bad point guard per say, but he is not a starter and the expectations surrounding his name thanks to his contract and Linsanity make him appear as a disappointment. Regardless, the Lakers are ready to move on if they can. The team has Jordan Clarkson at the spot while keeping their eyes on a long-term option.

According to the SportingNews.com report, the Lakers want Goran Dragic and have wanted him for the entire year. Dragic is preparing to be a free agent with no plans on returning to the crowded backcourt of the Phoenix Suns with Eric Bledsoe and Isaiah Thomas signed to big contracts. As of now, the Suns have made no hints at potentially looking to trade Dragic, but they do run the risk of letting him walk away for nothing in return.

Phoenix's asking price for Dragic will likely be very high. They are well aware that a number of teams like what they see out of the point guard and are eyeing him as their long-term solution. The Lakers might not have what it takes to get the point guard who is currently averaging 16.5 points on 50.2 percent shooting overall. Dragic is the better option over players like Norris Cole or Reggie Jackson, but Los Angeles will find it very hard to win over the Suns with a deal.
