The New York Knicks have something to smile about. The team has officially gone on a season-high three-game win streak as the team improved to 8-36 on the season after finally breaking a 16-game losing streak. The Knicks appear to finally be enjoying themselves on the court after beating the Orlando Magic and now they will try and keep that momentum alive as they prepare to face the Charlotte Hornets.
Carmelo Anthony and rookie Langston Galloway are pushing forward for the Knicks. Anthony is currently averaging 25.3 points in his last four games since returning from two weeks out with knee issues. Since missing six games with the injury, Anthony is proving the much-needed spark for the Knicks the team was lacking. Galloway is also doing the same despite being an undrafted rookie. He is currently averaging 15.7 points on 51.4 percent shooting in three games played.
After a number of trades including deals shipping away Iman Shumpert, JR Smith and Samuel Dalembert, the Knicks are relying on a lot of players on short-term contracts. Galloway, Lance Thomas and Louis Amundson are all on 10-day contracts trying to get a roster spot. Galloway is doing his part while Thomas put up 16 points against the Magic. Amundson added six rebounds. New York will have to decide if all three of the players are worth keeping around.
The Knicks continue to seek out trades and would be wise to keep some of the younger players around. Phil Jackson is seeking deals for Amar'e Stoudemire, Andrea Bargnani and Jose Calderon. If they get rid of them, there will not be enough players on the roster to field a whole team.
The Hornets are riding high on the success of Kemba Walker. The point guard is averaging 21.9 points in his past seven games against the Knicks after putting up the game winner against New York in their first meeting of the year. Walker is coming off a game where he had just eight points against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
