The Big 12 is the most competitive conference in college basketball at the moment as a majority of the conference is ranked in the Top 25. Most teams are now simply beating up on each other during conference play and that will be the case again as Kansas and Texas face off on Saturday with both teams currently ranked in the top 20.
The Jayhawks have been very successful while playing at home this season, wining all 10 games by an average of 15.3 points. However, their road record is difference. The team has split their four true road games as opponents are shooting an average of 72.0 points. The tea struggled with consistency in their last trip out on the court and hope to remedy while traveling to Austin.
Kansas had to rely on late-game heroics to beat Oklahoma despite their early game success. The team knocked in their first eight 3-point shots while leading by as many as 20 at halftime. However, they struggled heavily in the second half going 1 of 6 from long range and shooting just 10 of 27 to get the 85-78 win. They are hoping to perform better against Texas even though history is not in their favor as they shot just 38.5 percent against the Longhorns last season.
Texas is coming off a 66-48 win over TCU while followed their 77-50 win over West Virginia. They have plenty of momentum heading into the showdown with Kansas. In their past two games they are shooting 45.5 percent overall while comes after they were shooting just 32.2 percent overall.
The biggest thing for the Longhorns Isaiah Taylor who appears to be out of his shooting funk. The guard put up 13 points and seven rebounds in Monday's game after he was just averaging 8.3 points on 25.0 percent shooting. The Longhorns need him back to his sharp-shooting ways if they are going to make a late-season run this year.
