The Charlotte Hornets and NY Knicks are playing live from New York on Saturday afternoon from Madison Square Garden and things start up at 1 pm ET with Carmelo Anthony still out and the Knicks come in with just five wins and now host Lance Stephenson and the Hornets.
The Knicks have not played well in any aspect of the game this season and that has partially been by design and they come in at 5-34 on the season. The Hornets have been a disappointment as well, but not to this extent and they will be without Al Jefferson, while the Knicks are dealing with Anthony being out. The team comes in after a loss to the Rockets and they matchup against the Hornets before a game on the road against the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Knicks are ranked 29th in points per game this season and 21st in defense and they have basically given up after making trades with Iman Shumpert and JR Smith. The team is hoping to be a big player in free agency next year, but for how bad they have played, it may turn off some of those players. The Hornets come in after an upset win against the first place Raptors and they come in against the Knicks before a matchup with the Spurs.
The Hornets are ranked 24th in the league in points per game this season and they are fourth in the southeast division after making it into the playoffs last year. Jose Calderon has been playing well for the Knicks and the team has been struggling to score overall, including during a 20 minute stretch against the Rockets. The team is looking to get some positive play from their young roster and moving forward they are in a hard rebuild.
