The Los Angeles Lakers and LA Clippers are playing on the NBA schedule on Wednesday night and the matchup from the STAPLES Center starts at 10:30 pm ET as the western conference rivals matchup in their home arena and it has Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, Blake Griffin and Jeremy Lin taking the floor.
The Lakers come into the game after a close loss to the Portland Trail Blazers and they are currently fifth in the Pacific division standings. The team plays against the Orlando Magic after the matchup with the Clippers and they come in with an 11-24 record on the year. The Lakers are ranked 12th in scoring this season with 102 points per game, but they are near last in the league in points allowed, allowing 108 points per game.
Kobe has been leading the team in scoring, while Jordan Hill comes in after leading with 23 points and 14 rebounds against the Blazers. The Clippers come into the game after a loss against the Atlanta Hawks and they will play against the Dallas Mavericks after the matchup with the Lakers. Griffin comes into the game after scoring 26 points to lead the Clippers against the Hawks, while DeAndre Jordan added 16 rebounds and Chris Paul had 10 assists.
The Clippers come into the game averaging 106 points per game and they are ranked fifth in scoring in the league and fifth in assists. The team is 19th in defense and they need to improve and they have been slowing down a bit since winning nine straight games earlier in the season. The team has won only seven of the past 14 games and they are trying to bounce back from a loss against the Hawks.
The Lakers will be without Wesley Johnson and they will get Kobe Bryant back after he sat out against the Blazers. The Clippers have played well against the bottom teams in the west, but they have not played great against teams at the top and that will be a test moving forward. The Lakers have been terrible, but they always get up for games with the Clippers and now the two teams will battle in Los Angeles for the Staples Center on this night.
