The Washington Redskins had another tough season in 2014 and moving forward the team may look at a trade with Robert Griffin III or Kirk Cousins for head coach Jay Gruden and this comes as owner Dan Snyder will meet with the head coach and talk about whether RG3 is the starter and the future for this franchise moving forward.

The Redskins went just 4-12 this season under Gruden and once again finished in the bottom of the NFC East. It's unlikely that Gruden's job is on the line now despite the poor season, as he just signed a five year deal and making a change this fast is not a great move for the franchise. According to the Washington Post, Gruden is likely to return, but there should also be a number of changes heading into next season, potentially at quarterback. Jason Reid writes that the defense could get a complete overhaul, while the offensive line also needs work.

Pro Football Talk and other outlets picked up on a story from Monday where Kirk Cousins said that he would like to be traded if he isn't given the chance to start, but that was later rebuffed by local writers. Reid wrote that what Cousins said was taken out of context and that he is just hoping to get the chance to compete for the starting job next year. Throughout this season there have been reports about Cousins and his future with the team and he could be moved if Gruden and Snyder go with Griffin as the starter.

Griffin did not have a good season and while he looked better down the stretch than earlier in the year, he did not do much to prove to the Redskins that he should be the starter hands down. Both Griffin and Cousins were drafted the same year and many speculated that Cousins would eventually be traded down the line. Dianna Marie Russini of NBC 4 in D.C. reported the news about Cousins and whether he was misquoted or misunderstood, the narrative continues to come up about a potential trade and that will remain no matter what happens this offseason.

One interesting option for the Redskins and Cousins could be the Cleveland Browns, as they have some QB issues right now and they previously showed interest in trading for Cousins. Kyle Shanahan worked with Cousins in Washington and now that he is in Cleveland and they have some QB issues with Johnny Manziel, they could look at a trade. Brian Hoyer is a free agent and if he signs somewhere else, Cousins could be an option. The team was interested in Cousins before drafting Manziel and they could likely get him for a mid-draft pick and they have multiple picks in the first round and the most in the draft next season.

The Redskins ended up 11th in passing yards per game this season despite the struggles at QB and now Gruden and Snyder have some major decisions to make. The defense needs work and the team needs to be more consistent on offense and they have to do a better job of controlling the ball and keeping things secure with turnovers. The Cowboys, Eagles and Giants all should be solid next season, making things even tougher for the Redskins.
