Manchester United may target superstar Gareth Bale with Real Madrid at the January transfer window, as rumors have the Red Devils looking to bring back the British star to the English Premier League on a massive deal worth €153 million, according to recent reports from AS and other football outlets.

Bale moved to Real Madrid before last season from Tottenham and now the Spanish sports daily AS is reporting that Bale could be on his way back to England. According to Pro Soccer Talk, the Daily Mail and Deadspin, rumors have continued about Bale to Manchester United, as the team is looking to add one "star" player at the January transfer window. Louis Van Gaal has the team playing very well and they are now in the top four in the English Premier League.

Bale is considered to be one of the best players in the world and right now he is the top British player in football. Bale has played well since moving to Real Madrid on a £86 million deal last summer and now he could be poised to come back. Real has Cristiano Ronaldo and they signed James Rodriguez before this season and they have a number of players that fit their system better than Bale does. Bale is a star player and has been successful in La Liga, but he could be vaulted even higher if he comes back to the EPL now after winning trophies with Real.

This season Bale has six goals in 14 fixtures played for Real Madrid and he came in after scoring 26 goals in 44 matches before that. Man United has the money to spend and this would be a massive deal and right now Van Gaal is not speaking about it and neither is the club. This type of talk always comes up around the transfer window, but this one could pick up steam, as United feels it has the chance to make a run this year. Real Madrid has enough stars to be fine if they sell Bale and some have suggested that he is not the perfect fit for the system they run anyway.

The 25-year-old Welshman would be hugely popular back in the EPL and it would be big after United previously lost out on Bale when he went to Real in the first place. United comes into the week at third in the Premier League standings and they have played very well over the past month and now have Newcastle on the schedule at Old Trafford coming up. United will play in the FA Cup after the New Year and they also have matchup with Tottenham, West Ham, Southampton and QPR over the next month. The team is near the top with Chelsea and Man City and they will not have to worry about playing those teams again for weeks.
