The Navy Midshipmen are currently operating on a 12-game win streak over Army. The West Point team has come close on several occasions to getting the big win and ending Navy's reign, but they also managed to let it slip. Now, Navy is headed to a bowl game once again while Army is simply hoping to get a win to end their season on a high note.

Army is hoping that recent progress in the past few years can get them the win in 2014. The team came within a touchdown in both 2011 and 2012, but have yet to close the game out. First-year head coach Jeff Monken told the media that he intends to bring some fire to this matchup as he continues to operate the option-based offense with quarterback Angel Santiago and running backs Larry Dixon and Terry Baggett.

Army sits at 4-7 on the season while their defense ranks in the both ten in all categories. The team will rely heavily on the ground game. Dixon is averaging 5.8 yards per carry this year while getting at least 20 carries per game. Navy has the defense to challenge their run-first offense, but Army has found success with it all year and will not stray from the plan.

Navy come into the game bowl bound again. They have received their 11th bowl invitation in the past 12 years. However, the sting of Air Force winning the Commander-in-Chiefs trophy still stings. Navy looks poised to extend their win streak over Army as quarterback Keenan Reynolds leads the offense. Their defense is going to be tested as Jordan Drake and Daniel Gonzales lead the unit against the option.

the Army-Navy game is the fourth longest rivalry in college football. Only North Carolina-Wake Forest, Miami (Ohio)-Cincinnati and Minnesota-Wisconsin have longer history as the two schools first met in 1890. All but six of the games have been played on a neutral site as this year's takes place in Baltimore.
