Washington Redskins Rumors: Colt McCoy Neck Injury Forces Robert Griffin III Start? Jay Gruden Hints Kirk Cousins to Play as Marcus Mariota, Jameis Winston Draft Targets

Things continue to get ugly for the Washington Redskins. The quarterback carousel simply cannot end and Week 15 will not be any better for the team. Robert Griffin III was benched in favor of Colt McCoy. However, McCoy took a blindside hit in the loss to the St. Louis Rams, causing Griffin to take back over the starting job. Both quarterbacks looked terrible in the shutout making head coach Jay Gruden's job harder than it already is, but an injury might force the decision out of his hands.

McCoy admitted to the media he has no idea where his health stands. The quarterback took a shot in the loss to the Rams that has reportedly injured his neck. Griffin took over and according to ESPN's Adam Schefter he will stay at quarterback while McCoy heals. McCoy told reporters he is not sure exactly what type of injury he sustained after undergoing a series of tests Sunday night. He believes he will start in Week 15 against the New York Giants if deemed healthy enough.

Meanwhile, McCoy is taking full blame for Washington's loss. The quarterback defended the coaching of Gruden while saying he could have done more to try and get points on the board.

"It's not Jay's fault," McCoy said, via CSNWashington.com. "It's not Jay's fault at all. I think each person individually on this team assumes the responsibility, and I certainly feel like Jay puts us in the best positions to be successful, and unfortunately Sunday we were going against a really tough defense from the Rams. We did some good things, but when you look collectively as a unit, we couldn't run the football, we stayed in third and longs, we had bad field position to start the game and we couldn't overcome those things. We've got to find a way to figure this out."

At this point, the Redskins' offense in non-existent. The team cannot find any rhythm. McCoy was sacked six times before getting taken out of the game while Griffin also found himself on the ground. The run game with Alfred Morris was not moving and the offensive line could not block all game. Washington's problems extend far past the quarterback position, but as long as they keep rotating players, it is what will get the most attention.
