The Washington Redskins may not start Robert Griffin III at quarterback again over Colt McCoy this season and now Jay Gruden and the franchise will have to decide what to do with RG3, as he has a contract option coming up and if a trade goes down instead, teams like the Oakland Raiders, Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be interested.

Griffin was benched for McCoy this past week against the Colts and now it is likely that he remains on the bench for the rest of the season. According to the Washington Post, sources have said that it is "highly unlikely" that Griffin returns to the Redskins next season after the way he has performed last year and this season. The Redskins gave up a ransom for Griffin, but he has been a development quarterback at best over the past year and now Gruden and the front office must do what is best for the team.

The Raiders have Derek Carr but likely will be looking for a new quarterback, while other teams could try and take a chance on RG3. Grantland.com put together a list and teams like the Eagles, 49ers, Buccaneers and Titans were mentioned along with the Houston Texans as possible destinations.

Griffin was looked at as a franchise changing talent, but there have been so many issues that it could be hard for him to continue as the starting quarterback. Griffin has been ineffective since coming back and reports have brought up issues with his work ethic and grasp of what Gruden is trying to do in the offensive scheme. McCoy has played better when he has had the chance to start and he threw for nearly 400 yards last week against the Colts.

The matchup with the Colts shows how far Griffin has fallen, as he won the rookie of the year award over Andrew Luck, but found himself on the bench Sunday in Week 14 instead of starting. Luck has led his team to back to back playoff appearances, while the Redskins have seemingly fallen apart since Griffin took the team to the playoffs a couple years ago. Griffin has been injured in each of the last two seasons and that has not helped his development either.

Griffin was electric his rookie season, but injuries have kept him from being as explosive and he has not been nearly as productive or effective. Griffin threw for 3200 yards and completed 65 percent of his passes as a rookie and he threw for 20 touchdowns and just five interceptions. Griffin also rushed for 826 yards and had seven touchdowns and the next season he threw for three more yards basically split his rushing yards and threw for 16 TDs and 12 interceptions.
